MF 97 Clutch help

Postby JKrull66 » Tue Jun 05, 2018 11:24 am

Taking apart dads MF 97. The hand clutch needs new throw-out assembly. The clutch has a nut and tapered shaft, It don't seem to want to come off, don't see a place for a puller. What's the trick here... probably so simple I'm missing it. Thanks, John

well it came off... Bigger hammer. Next issue the replacement sleeve w moline part number is a inch longer then the unit that came out. We knew the brass was bigger and thicker so got the assembly. Probably have to go back and get matching clutch assembly. The masseys diff somehow?

Seldom do the Twin Disc clutches give any problem. Center plate split on mine. Brass collar wears out.All Massey 97/95. MM Gv1.704/5/6/7/8 all the same.

Yes sir that's what I was told also, Brother went to Stamn and looked through all his stuff and after hr n half found a short one like the one that came out. Most were the longer ones. Don't know if aftermarket or what. The brass is diff on the one he found uses the normal brass the one we had was bigger w thicker grove. Never know what u may find. We are sure this wasn't opened up since the 60's. As u said clutch was fine, the brass wore out because grease tube worn out. At least we found one to put it back together.

Hi John,

Do you have any addresses for me where to find a brass collar for the clutch? Mine is worn out, one side of the collar was out of the shifter fork so its scrap now.

By the way, my MF97 is located in Groenlo, the Netherlands.

Hello,

I've checked the photo of the clutch sleeve as posted above by John, but I see a difference between the ones on his photo and mine, still mounted. The collar at the end is twice as wide as I have, is that the reason why my brass shifter ring is worn out? It looks like the collar on the sleeve is to small in diameter and that is maybe the reason why the brass ring broke? The photo attached show the collar on the sleeve inside my 97. Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Maarten Pleiter
