Using TinyURL to shorten links

Postby Tony Turner » Mon Jan 26, 2009 4:55 pm

Hi guys,
There is a handy little tool online that will shorten those long urls down to a usable size. Here are the steps.

Go to http://www.tinyurl.com

Cut and paste the long url (page link) into the little window provided

Click the button that says "make tiny URL"

Thats all there is to it. Cut the resulting link and us it anywhere you would have used the long url.... it will take you to the same page.

Here is an example:

I entered the link:
http://books.google.com/books?id=HRez5f ... #PPA140,M1

TinyURL shortened it to:
http://tinyurl.com/mmterra (tinyurl used the alias I entered)

How cool is that and best of all, it's FREE.

Thanks,
Tony

tiny url access to Jensen Thumbnails

Postby tractorbabe » Tue Jan 27, 2009 9:04 am

This is a great tool and would like to let everyone know about the one I have posted for the Minnesota Historical Society Jensen prints. Please go to:

http://tinyurl.com/http-tinyurl-com-jensen

This is the access to all the thumbnail prints the MHS has processed and posted on-line. There are almost 2000 images you can access. This site also has an index enabling you to locate pictures alphabetically by model or topic. These images are the direct result of many MM enthusiasts man-hours donated to review and catalogue the negatives. Donated money from the MM clubs and many individuals funded the project and now the process is complete. Enjoy!
