Moline 3496 combine

Postby SwenNilsson » Thu Jul 16, 2009 11:25 pm

Does anyone know what kind of reputation the MM 3496 self-propelled combine had? Also, what years was it manufactured?

Model 3496 grain MM (535 Oliver) was made 1965-1971, I have no 1st hand experience with them.

Thanks for the information on the general dates of manufacture. The one I'm messing around with has a serial number of MY60420. Does anyone have reference material that would tell the specific year of manufacture of this machine?

The book I have says 1969 production was MY50396-MY50440 and then 1970 production was MY60473-MY60587 for the 3496 combine - grain. The serial number ranges do not appear to be consecutive. They look like batch builds. Unfortunately your serial number does not fit in these ranges but I'd guess it's either 1969 or 1970.

Lloyd McCrays serial # list shows MY32198-MY40645 as being 1968, it could be in this batch. Sure is a mixed up bunch of serial #s.

These were all Cockshutt combines made in Brantford,Ont. This probably why there is batches of serial numbers. Some were for Cockshutt then MM.
