Postby Moshka » Thu Aug 24, 2006 1:02 pm

whats the difference between a HD power unit and a standard power unit?

Also what is the difference between a 504 and a 605 unit?

i want to get that GBD running but need a different engine. would i be able to hook up one of these types of units without major ajustments?

I am just guessing but I would say the difference is about 101 cubic inches.
The 504 was used in the G70x and G1000/1050 series of tractors also MF97. It is a 4 5/8" bore by 5" stroke 6 cyl. I have no specifications on a 605.

The 605 has a 6 inch stroke & 4.625 bore. It is like a 403 GB engine with 2 more cylinders, or a 504 with a 1 inch longer stroke. I am not sure which engines will bolt directly to the flywheel on which tractors. I don't think the 605 was produced to run on diesel. The only tractor that I know to use this engine was the GTX-jeep.

There were a lot of GT-6 tractors at tractor pulls some years back. I never did know if they were factory or dealer conversions of GTB diesels. They did have 605's and they did real well at pulls until they were banned.
